These cards are prepaid, private label gift cards that operate on a closed loop system. This means that participating merchants must be active members in good standing with the Aberdeen Area Chamber to accept the card. Aberdeen gift cards will be available for purchase at the Chamber office, 516 S Main Street by businesses and citizens at no charge. The gift card is sponsored locally by Dakota Broadcasting. Participating merchants process the gift card as they would any credit or bankcard on their store’s register. Gift cards will also make for quick and efficient transactions and easy end-of-day reconciliation. The card will be administered by EML Marketing, an international payment systems processor based in Overland Park, Kansas. Aberdeen businesses can still accept printed Gift Certificates issued prior to this launch for payment until their expiration date. Current gift certificates are valid one year from the purchase date which is printed on the check. Businesses who have questions on the program are encouraged to contact the Chamber at (605) 225-2860.
