Alumni of the 2023 Leadership Aberdeen Class, along with the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, Aberdeen Downtown Association and the Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be kicking off the 2nd Annual Aberdeen Burger Battle on April 1st. Proceeds from the month-long event will benefit the Salvation Army of Aberdeen. Their goal is to secure event sponsors and donations for food insecurity programs facilitated by the Salvation Army, while also showcasing the great burgers Aberdeen restaurants have to offer.
Last year, the class organized the Burger Battle with ten participating restaurants. The driving mission behind the Battle was to raise awareness of food insecurity in the community. The class donated $10,000 to the Salvation Army of Aberdeen from participating businesses and local sponsors. Burger voters also generously donated about $500.This year, the group is hoping to expand the number of participating restaurants.
Burger connoisseurs will be able to visit participating restaurants and rate each of the burgers they try. Ultimately the burger with the highest overall ratings will be unveiled and celebrated on Thursday, May 9th at 5:00 pm as part of the Chamber’s Business After Hours Mixer at IDC. The voting website will also provide information about the Salvation Army, its mission to fight hunger, and will provide a format for local participants to contribute to the cause.
The cost for participating restaurants is $300 and there are different levels of sponsorship opportunities available as well.
