The Chamber’s Ag Committee hasn’t hosted an Ag Appreciation Banquet since 2019, due to Covid-19. This year, the event made a comeback on January 21st. In the recent past, the banquet was held in November. Several hundred people were on hand to hear from farmer/rancher and BEEF Daily blogger Amanda Radke, honor the Bieber family (shown above) & John Kannegieter (posthumously) and enjoy a beef dinner. The night was capped off with entertainment by The Desert City Ramblers.
The Chamber Ag Committee each year selects a farm/ranch family to highlight the work of those in the state’s No. 1 industry. The honored family exhibits exemplary involvement and commitment to the ag community and industry. Named as the 2022 Farm Family of the Year, Bieber Red Angus Ranch of Leola aims to provide top-quality animals for the beef industry. The Farm Family of the Year award is sponsored by The Farm Forum and Agtegra.
The Making a Difference Award was given posthumously to Ag Committee member John Kannegieter of Aberdeen who died in November. John demonstrated his passion for agriculture through his work with the Ag Committee events and through telling the story of agriculture. He was the Chair of the Ag Committee in 2019, a former Chamber Ambassador and alum of Leadership Aberdeen.
