Chamber Board Supports 2023 State Legislative Bills

The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently voted in support of the following 2023 Bills being discussed in the South Dakota Legislature:

• SB 173 – increase the appropriation for construction costs related to the new Lincoln Hall at Northern State University, and to declare an emergency
• HB 1117 and HB 1118 – funding for the Small Business Development Centers, Manufacturing Technology Solutions, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, etc.
• SB 20 & SB 17 – water projects including the WINS project for Aberdeen and surrounding area
• SB 155 – fund for the improvement and construction of jails

Others the Chamber is watching include: childcare, tuition freeze, school funding, foreign ownership of ag land, grocery tax, property tax, parental leave, and more.
