The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the ATEC Academy, will host a Career Connections event on Wednesday, March 26, providing local students with the opportunity to explore career pathways and connect with employers from a variety of industries.

Career Connections is an opportunity for employers to connect directly with high school students at the ATEC Academy, helping them learn about real career opportunities available in the Aberdeen region. The program will be held twice each year and focuses on different sectors of the workforce. The March event highlights Professional Services & Innovation, while the October event will focus on Skilled Trades & Industry.

Through interactive conversations and hands-on engagement, students will gain insight into different professions, learn about education and training pathways, and hear directly from professionals about what it takes to succeed in their fields. Participating businesses and organizations for the March event include:

  • 3M Company
  • AGP
  • Aspire
  • Avera St. Luke’s Hospital
  • City of Aberdeen – Police Department
  • DemKota Ranch Beef
  • House of Glass
  • Huff Construction Inc.
  • Midstates Inc.
  • Northern State University Academy
  • Northern State University School of Business

These organizations represent a diverse range of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, public safety, engineering, business, and higher education. Students will rotate through each booth, giving them the chance to learn about the work these companies do, explore potential career paths, and ask questions about internships, training, and employment opportunities.

“Career Connections gives students a chance to see the incredible opportunities available right here in Aberdeen,” said Gail Ochs, CEO of the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce. “When students meet local employers and hear firsthand about career pathways, it helps them envision a future for themselves in our community while helping businesses build the workforce of tomorrow.”

Events like Career Connections play an important role in strengthening the local workforce pipeline by connecting education with industry and encouraging students to consider future opportunities within their own community.
