Wouldn't it be great to retain our best resource – these students - in our region? We believe so, and that’s why the Workforce and Education Committee of the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the NEW “Bridges” program.
“Bridges” is designed for businesses that currently have or are interested in starting an internship program within their organization. The program will directly link students to businesses in the Aberdeen area. It is a three-fold approach that involves: education and communication with businesses; guidance and instruction to students through University Deans and Professors; and a common website which connects student talents and background with business needs.
End result: Internships, Mentorships, Job shadowing, and most importantly – Retention!
Bridge Builder Award
3M Company of Aberdeen - 2008 Bridge Builder ABBY Award Winner
The Bridge Builder Award is presented to a business or organization demonstrating exceptional performance in collaboration between students from area educational institutions and area businesses or workplaces. The award recognizes student workforce development opportunities such as internships, mentoring programs, job shadowing, apprenticeships, or other such offerings. Without bridges, the best-built roads lead nowhere and the best laid plans fail.
This award acknowledges the bridges that have been built and the lifelong connections made. By providing students with opportunities in the region, we ultimately enhance our entire workforce and culture.
