2020 Priorities

There is no better investment for a business or professional firm than membership in the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce. We work to connect member businesses in Aberdeen and across the county. Acting as the voice for Aberdeen business for 135 years, the Chamber represents over 630 members.

Committee Work

In an effort to increase volunteer engagement and outreach to our members, the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce will make the following changes to exiting Chamber committees. An annual committee planning retreat where measurable goals and priorities are established by committee will be held in January 2020:

1. Implement the following new committees:

  • Advisory – develop team (5-8) to evaluate local, state, and national issues and what effects they have on Aberdeen businesses and the community. The group reports to the board of directors every other month;
  • Membership – Committee will work with the Director of Member Services to review tiered dues strategies, evaluate current membership benefits, develop new benefits and /or partnership, and focus on recruitment and retention; and
  • Mentorship – Develop structured pilot program for implementation in 2020 or 2021.
2. Reduce meeting schedule for the following committees: Enhance Aberdeen, Transportation and Military & Veterans.

3. Change structure of the Community Affairs Committee to monthly luncheons with board members hosting and encouraging participation amongst their peers. A tentative schedule would include:
